Yesterday’s Review

0.75pt e/way Empress Olivia (99) – The selection reproduced her Catterick effort on the clock and raced prominently on the rail with Mighty Magnus (99). She looked a difficult enough ride as she hung to the right despite the jockey using his stick in the correct hand. Rhys Elliott was able to nudge her in front near the line for a head victory and it was a job well done by all involved. Result 1st 6/1 adv…9/2f SP.

Today’s Advice

PHOTOSYNTHESIS (6f Hcap) – This Peter Chapple-Hyam trained five-year-old has plenty of ability as seen on the clock but he does struggle with consistency. He placed third in today’s (5.25) Newbury last season first time out when just beaten under a length by Havanagreatime. He raced prominently on that occasion and kept on well towards the finish under Luke Morris. This was followed up by a disappointing performance at Ascot (when selected by this blog) on a day where the going was faster than advertised. It took him four more races before he managed to get his head in front at Newmarket over 6f under the welter burden of 9st 12lbs with today’s pilot Harry Davies on board. The (110) timefigure matched his Newbury effort and there is no doubt he is still well handicapped from his current mark as the handicapper only raised him 3lbs for that win.

A below par effort was recorded when last seen at Newcastle back in January where he could only manage a well beaten 14th of 14 and he has been given a three month break since. There has been a move for him overnight but he still looks worth a small interest at a double figure price.
