Starsoftheclock Friday 18th October 2024 Selections And Review

Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Plains Indian (92) – A disappointing performance from the selection on suitable ground. At no stage did he look threatening.

0.75pt e/way Pink Oxalis (87) – A high draw appeared to hold an advantage with the first three home drawn 23-33-31. Drawn on the wrong side, jockey Gary Carroll failed to get this horse into a rhythm. A performance to put a line through, and she has questions to answer now.

0.75pt e/way Glamorous Express (97)  – Hollie Doyle’s mount showed no zest on the day failing to find another gear in the home straight when asked.

Today’s Advice

Station X (6f Nursery) – Bryan Smart’s two-year-old recorded a (106) speed figure last time out at Catterick over five furlongs on Soft ground when finishing fourth behind Al Hussar. The strength of that contest hasn’t been well advertised with two unplaced efforts from the winner and Lovat Scout since. There are also mixed messages from the pedigree about whether the step up to six furlongs for today’s (2.55) Haydock will definitely suit this son of Dark Angel. His full brother Decrypt has won over seven furlongs in the past, while other close family members have preferred five furlongs. The key to him does appear to be the ground, with his two worst performances coming on a Good to Firm surface. He looks the right price today for a speculative interest.
