Today’s Advice

AA RX BURN (PA Gp2) – The Group 2 Bani Yas over seven furlongs looks to have the right horses towards the front of the market. Front runners at Meydan can experience a great advantage and it’s not uncommon for these types to record huge timefigures when unpestered on the lead. As such how your selection leaves the stalls can be crucial round here.

Front runner Af Alajaj won this contest in 2022, but for a visual reminder of the above point go and watch his performance in last year’s race when not coming out of the stalls properly. Mubeed looks the right favourite for today’s (1.30) Meydan having finished third in last season’s Group 1 Dubai Kahayla Classic. This will be his seasonal reappearance and at the prices I prefer to be with the Musabbeh Al Mheiri trained selection.

He has taken his time to come good since moving over from the States but he has really shown that he is a Group race performer on the clock in his last few contests. Like the second favourite he will need to get the start right to show his best and looked a little unlucky when just failing to catch Ab Sacar over course and distance back in March. A Listed race over ten furlongs at Al Ain was another step up in grade and he saw off fourteen rivals nicely over a trip that was probably a shade far for him while recording a (66) timefigure which is a point above our Group 2 par.

He hasn’t been seen since that victory in a race but did win a Barrier Trial nicely over five furlongs last month while recording a (64) timefigure. He looks the right price for a sporting interest and as always the start will be very important for today’s contestants.

TJAREED (Maiden) – The (2.05) Meydan looks an interesting contest and the Wathnan Racing owned filly Star Mirage looks a bit short in the betting for my liking. She only has the one race under her belt when finishing well in a slowly run contest at Kempton back in September behind the Godolphin trained Dancing Flower. That filly has since been beaten at Newmarket and the favourite looks worth taking on.

The selection kept on well in a recent barrier trial ten days ago over five furlongs when finishing three quarters of a length behind Frostfire at today’s venue and recording a (105) timefigure. A reproducton of that effort from her kind draw in stall two today would see her very competitive and she looks worth an interest at the prices on offer considering her dam won over six furlongs. The last furlong will be revealing for a lot of today’s debutants but I am happy to side with the second favourite who is definitely heading in the right direction.

GO CHROME GO (7f Hcap) – The Julio Olascoaga stable have been in fine form lately with Rakaan doing us a favour at Jebel Ali last week and while it may appear that the selection has little chance as the outsider of today’s (4.25) Meydan field, he has won his last five races in Argentina over seven and eight furlongs including a Group 2 and a Group 3.

Connections have taken their time with the seven-year-old and he was noted coming home eight lengths clear in a recent barrier trail over five furlongs at today’s venue while recording a (109) timefigure. He has been given a kind draw in stall five and looks worth an interest at the prices as plenty of his rivals will be having their seasonal debuts today.
