With three selections already advised for today I couldn’t find anything else strong enough at the right price. I did have a look at The Lincoln for Saturday and I liked one in that as written below.
SATURDAY
ETERNAL FORCE (8f Hcap) – The (3.32) Doncaster doesn’t look as ultra competitive as usual and I always picture William Haggas sitting back somewhere having a little laugh at the handicapper when he enters his horses for these handicaps. Having won the race five times now with High Low (1992), Very Wise (2007), Penitent (2010), Addeyb (2018) and Godwinson last year there should be no doubt that he has a real affection for this race. The selection was a slow burner last season on the clock and it wasn’t until his final race at Haydock over the mile that he showed how fast he was improving. He raced keenly in midfield on a Good to Soft (Good in places) surface and made headway under two furlongs from home under Tom Marquand. As he came to challenge the leader inside the final furlong he found another gear to win going away impressively by three lengths from Talis Evolvere. I awarded him a (111) timefigure for that performance while carrying 9st 9lbs and although the handicapper has raised him 8lbs for that performance he sits nicely near midpack on number nine of twenty two with 9st 4lbs on his back for tomorrow’s race. The form of the race also looks strong with the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th all coming out and winning since and a reproduction of that performance would see him difficult to beat tomorrow.
With Tom Marquand booked to ride in Australia it will be up to Cieren Fallon to do the steering and he has had plenty of success at Town Moor over the years with 22 winners from 134 rides (16.4%) most notably aboard last year’s winner Godwinson for the stable. A low draw in stall six should be fine with prominent racers Botanical (3) and Urban Lion (2) close by considering the winner came from stall 3 last season. With the ground advertised as Good to Soft (Soft in places) there should be enough cut in the ground to the son of Dubawi’s liking and while there has been a bit of a move for him in the betting there is still enough left in his price to have an interest.
1pt e/way Eternal Force (9/2 Ladbrokes, Coral, Betvictor 5 places) 3.32 Doncaster
