Today’s Advice

Your Call (7f Cm 2yo) – This two-year-old son of Soldier’s Call recorded a career best (104) speed figure last time out out on his all-weather debut over the mile behind Sunriseontheboyne. On that occasion he made most of the running before being headed inside the final furlong just going down by a half length. This was a career best effort on the clock, and represents the top figure in today’s field. As with most claiming races we are left with the question can the performance be reproduced, and over a shorter trip? There appears to be enough in the price to warrant a sporting interest in the selection seeing as his improvement may have came from the new surface.

Gardone (10f 150y Hcp) – The re-application of blinkers could provide a return to form for this four-year-old who put up two career best performances on the clock when wearing them in August and September. His performance when finishing second behind Anjah in September and recording a (107) speed figure stands alone in today’s field. He has looked a different horse since returning from a break without the headgear the last twice when not performing to his best failing to finish in the first three places on both occasions. As a hold-up performer there looks to be a decent pace on paper for him to aim at with Warazam, Special Angel and Jawhary in the line-up. The JJ Feane trained Eighty Eight could be his main danger if connections have him back to his best. While he only has one career victory to his name so far he looks dangerously well handicapped from a career low mark, and Rory Mulligan’s seven pound claim could come in handy.
