1pt win Have Secret (107) – A fine front-running ride from Barry McHugh on the winner, although things could have been a bit more interesting if our selection was ridden with a bit more urgency entering the home turn. I felt jockey Billy Garritty needed to close the gap down a lot earlier than he did, making up a lot of ground in the home straight but came up a length and a half short.
0.5pt e/way Bulletin (98) – The selection did well to make the frame having looked a bit short of room in the home straight. He doesn’t do anything quickly, and looks vulnerable to horses with a turn of foot like the winner at the business end. Result 4th 6/1 adv…6/1 SP.
0.5pt e/way Northern Attitude (95) – A disappointing finish from the selection who looked to be coming with a winning effort but found very little. Jockey Gavin Ryan reported that his mount received a bad bump entering the home turn, but I wouldn’t like to make excuses for the effort. Great Mover (97) received a worse bump entering the home turn, and showed great resilience to get up for third place.
Today’s Advice
GOODIE TWO SHOES (16f Listed) – The (7.08) Down Royal looks an interesting contest with favourite Poetic Sound finishing close up behind retired superstar Kyprios last time out at Navan over fourteen furlongs. Second favourite Dallas Star has a similar formline with the son of Galileo from Leopardstown, although the winner was idling at the finish.
The selection won a Listed class race nicely by six lengths over fourteen furlongs last time out at Gowran Park in a very fast time from Fairy Wings. She raced just off the pace on that occasion, and wore down the leader in the home straight. The step up to two miles looks worth exploring with plenty of stamina in her pedigree, and she looks the right price for a sporting interest for tonight’s contest.
The ground is currently described as Good with temperatures reaching nineteen degrees, so the going should be fair for all contenders.
