Today’s Advice

UPTOWN WALK THE LINE (9f 98y Hcap) – Hadaaya, favourite for today’s (1.30) Meydan looks to have a tricky draw in stall eleven for his debut for trainer Elise Jeanne. Last seen at Goodwood when trailing in 16 lengths behind Al Ghadeer for trainer Philip Collington, he looked impressive when recording a comfortable (56) timefigure over the straight mile at Yarmouth last June. This will be his first spin on the dirt in public with first time blinkers and there are enough question marks to look for an alternative.

The selection found things happening too quickly over the 6f trip last time out when taking the bronze medal 3 lengths behind Jamra SB in a Class 3 contest. I awarded him a (57) timefigure when winning from a wide draw at Al Ain over 9f the time before that and with a kind draw in stall 4 today he should be much more comfortable. BF Alshaham deserves a mention for his (58) timefigure over the mile at Al Ain and it will be interesting to see if he can employ the same come from behind tactics at today’s venue.

BREAKDANCER/SAN SEBASTIAN (8f Hcap) – The (2.05) Meydan looks an interesting contest with the George Boughey trained short priced favourite Carron heading the market. As we know with this trainer he can get them to improve rapidly but looking at this one’s profile and his last performance it looks like he is far from straightforward. The former selection raced keenly last time out over 7f at this venue and was just starting to power home when the line came too soon behind Impressive Act. A mile winner at Southwell last season the step up to today’s distance should be much more helpful. James Doyle has been booked and there should be no excuse today.

The latter selection was noted finishing fastest in the second last sectional when coming home in fourth place behind improver The Fingal Raven from a brutal draw in stall sixteen. His past winning form would indicate that an extra furlong might suit best but at the prices he looks worth a small interest providing he can navigate his way through the pack from stall three.

DOSMAN (8f Hcap) – This five-year-old was noted not getting a clear run through over 7f at tonight’s venue when coming home in third place 1.75 lengths behind Witch Hunter last time out. That was just his third run for new trainer Oli Rix and the son of Kingman has dropped 12lbs in the handicap from his previous best. Related to 10f winner Aikhal the step up to the mile for tonight’s (7.30) Newcastle looks worth exploring, and I will be hoping jockey Jonny Peate can find a clearer passage through this time with prominent racers Advancing and Champagne Powder in opposition.
