0.75pt e/way Happy Boss (100) – The ground changed to Yielding during the card following plenty of rain and that put paid to the selection’s chances who was reported to have not handled the going by jockey Luke Ferraris. He came home in his own time in ninth place beaten just under 7 lengths.
1pt e/way Marcellinus (101) – The winning times on the day indicated that conditions were on the fast side and there was no “Good” ground on display as advertised. This would not have suited the selection who did well to manage second place beaten 4 lengths. He would not have been the selection if the clerk of the course called the ground correctly. Result 2nd 4/1, 7/2 adv…11/4 SP.
Today’s Advice
SANDSCREENDELIVERD (5f Hcap) – This four-year-old went down by just a head last time out at Goodwood for this blog and although the handicapper has put him up 2lb it looks the best recent performance of the field on turf. He raced prominently that day and was just worried out of the win in the final strides by The Thames Boatman. A draw close to the rail for tonight’s (6.40) Windsor should suit and with a repeat performance he should have every chance of going close again.
CUCKALOO HILL (12f Hcap) – Trainer Michael Flannery has his team in decent shape with a 67% RTF (Running to Form) Racing Post stat at the moment. This four-year-old filly put in a career best performance (98) timefigure last time out over 9f at Ballinrobe when keeping on well to the line. She has drawn nicely in stall 4 for tonight’s (8.20) Roscommon, and with Siobhan Rutledge on board once again, she should enjoy a decent ground saving trip round on the inside. A drop of 12lb in the handicap since finishing third to Miss Nifty at Naas over the extended 10f last year has put her on a decent mark for tonight’s contest. Although this is a lower grade than I usually get involved in she looks worth an interest at a double figure price.
