Starsoftheclock Monday 26th October 2026 Selections And Review

Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way Eleganz (107) – The strength of the Marizion win from early September over 14f at Longchamp was highlighted in the result of this race with the first three home behind the winner taking first, second and fifth. The pace was slightly slower than standard resulting in a bit of a bunch finish, but Oisin Murphy had the selection in a prominent enough position to close down the leaders quickly enough. Despite having to be switched to the outside the filly showed a decent turn of foot to sweep past seven rivals in the final two furlongs for a cosy three quarters of a length victory. The rain that fell in the previous 24 hours played to her strengths and connections will be delighted with this win on her CV. Result 1st 15/2 adv…11/2 SP.

Today’s Advice

I’M WORKIN ON IT (7f Hcap) – The drop back to 7f for today’s (5.45) Kempton should see the selection in a better light as the two top timefigues of his career have been achieved over this course and distance. A 4 length victory over Valley Ofthe Kings back in February yielded a (110) timefigure while a neck defeat behind Chalk Mountain back in May carrying 11lb more resulted in a (109) timefigure both over course and distance. He has been performing well enough over the mile in his last three starts from a pound higher mark, but it looks like 7f is ideal for the son of Harry Angel.

Jockey Lewis Edmunds has already won 4 times on the selection and a decent draw in stall 7 should help this prominent racer. He is flexible regards to pace and can lead or take a lead which should help for today’s contest as there are two other contestants in Lunario and Aigeas who like to get on with things. Favouriite Siwa Oasis won nicely 12 days ago over course and distance recording a (107) timefigure under a 5lb lighter weight but the selection looks better value having already performed at a higher level on the clock so far.

GILET (8f Hcap) – This four-year-old caught the eye last time out over course and distance, when selected by this blog, having been involved in a slowly run race and not getting the clearest of runs through from midfield to finish in 6th place behind Elan d’Or. The handicapper has kindly dropped him 2lb since then and from a kinder draw in stall 7 for tonight’s (6.45) Kempton (and with a bit more pace forecast) he looks a bit of value this morning despite having been nibbled at in the overnight market.

He is currently 1lb above his last winning mark, but he has performed very well on the clock last winter over course and distance from marks higher than today’s. A reproduction of his third place finish which yielded a (107) timefigure when beaten a length and a half behind High On Hope back in January (when racing in midfield) would see him go close in tonight’s contest. Both the he second place and fourth place finishers, Joolianoss and Towerlands, won next time out. Jockey Edward Greatrex knows the horse well and has finished runner-up five times on the son of Coulsty so far. We will be hoping that he can go one place better tonight.
