Today’s Advice

MONSIEUR KODI (6f Hcap) – This six-year-old hasn’t done much wrong on the clock his last four races and is due a win from his current handicap rating considering he is rated 1lb below his last winning mark. That race was back in July over six furlongs at Hamilton, and he had been quiet enough his next five races. However, he has recorded progressively higher timefigures since with (103), (104), (106) and (107) his latest efforts.

He looked a shade unlucky three runs back over six furlongs at Catterick when not getting the clearest of passages when finishing second to The Good Biscuit and kept on all the way to the line behind course specialist Gweedore over seven furlongs at Musselburgh to finish third next time out. Last time out he took home the bronze medal behind the Charlie Clover trainer State Of Madness and Hunky Dory over course and distance having raced in touch of the leaders. The form of that race was franked yesterday with Hunky Dory winning at Southwell. While the selection kept on well to the line on that occasion it looked like he might need something to spark a bit more from him at the business end of the race. Connections have applied the first time cheekpieces for today’s (5.15) Newcastle and it will be interesting to see if they can help him return to the winner’s enclosure.

Seven pound apprentice Ethan Tindall takes the ride once again having been on board for his three latest races and he has been in decent form this month with three wins from eighteen rides. It looks a competitive enough Class 4 contest with the morning favourite Judgment Call having won his latest race and the JIm Goldie trained Arnhem looking a more genuine finisher than in the past a few pounds below his previous winning best. At the prices on offer I was willing to give the Richard Fahey trained selection a chance to get his head in front.

The price has come in a bit more than I would have liked early this morning but he may drift out later for those who can avail of best odds guaranteed.
