Today’s Advice

HOW IMPRESSIVE (7f Hcap) – The (4.07) Kempton looks like a race where a lot of the contestants have yet to find their best form on the clock at this stage of their career. The selection is a proven course and distance winner from a pound lower mark than today’s with jockey Joe Leavy on board who has won on him before. He does have his quirks though as he is usually taken down early and his form can be a bit in and out. However, when he is on a going day he can be difficult to peg back as he proved when making all over course and distance last October from a wide draw in stall 11. On that occasion Jason Watson did the steering and he set a fast pace but had built up enough of a lead to cling on by a neck from Jersey Maverick.

He looks the only pace in today’s contest and has shown that he is in decent nick on the clock last time out when recording a (109) timefigure over today’s distance at Chelmsford when finishing in fourth place beaten just 2.5 lengths behind Signcastle City. The third placed horse Captain Parma has won since so the strength of the form looks solid for a Class 5 contest. The handicapper has dropped him a pound for that effort and providing he can put forward a similar effort today he looks worth an interest at the prices. The opposition have yet to put up similar figures on the clock and as things stand it looks like Hugo Palmer’s contestant has the strongest times on offer so far.
