Starsoftheclock Monday 30th September 2024 Selections And Review

30th September, 2024 @ 8:30am

Yesterday’s Review

0.75pt e/way Dahab (104) – A solid performance from the selection to hit the frame having been backed from 14/1 into 4/1 despite the non-runners. He had every chance at the three furlong pole, but lacked the turn of foot to have a winning chance. He could struggle to find a winnable maiden race in Ireland. Result 3rd 14/1 adv…Rule 4 30c…4/1 SP.

Today’s Advice

Cannes Do/Tatum (10f 138y Hcap) – The current ground conditions  for today’s (5.00) Down Royal have been described as Good To Yielding (Yielding in places) with up to ten millimetres of rain due. Form on a soft surface looks the way to go, and the former selection’s two most recent efforts fit that bill. The five-year-old mare looked very unlucky not to open her account two runs back at Naas over the mile on a Yielding surface when not getting the clearest of runs. Having taking up the running inside the final furlong she was just pipped on the line. She came good last time out though over a distance that wouldn’t have suited when winning by a half length from Dark Viper over the extended seven furlongs on a soft surface at Roscommon. Today’s step up in trip should suit her looking at her pedigree, and she looks worth an interest to see if she can continue her solid recent form. The latter is a more speculative selection as we haven’t seen her for over 350 days. She looked to be progressing nicely when just beaten a neck at Bellewstown last September on Heavy going over the extended seven furlongs, but failed to build on that next time out at Gowran Park behind Expecto. The step up in trip should also suit her style of racing, and if Noel Meade has her ready to go today (he had a similar winner in Persian Queen in 2020 following a 399 day break) connections should have some fun with her racing from a handicap mark of 58.

Galel (7f 36y Hcap) – This lightly-raced three year old filly looks like she needs a step up in trip for today’s (6.30) Wolverhampton following a keeping on seventh place at this venue behind recent winner Koji. The handicapper has dropped her two pounds since, and this hold-up performer should benefit from today’s likely pace from the likes of El Montejean, Buttercross Flyer, Candy Warhol, Dynamite Katie and Kristal Klear. She looks worth a sporting interest at a double figure price in the hope that we get a truly run race, and she can come forward from her recent effort.

Harbour Vision (8f 142y Hcap) – A drop down in class to a (0-55) handicap for tonight’s (8.30) Wolverhampton could be just what is needed to get this Scott Dixon trained veteran back in the winner’s enclosure. He looks to be the lone pace for tonight’s contest, and his latest course and distance second behind Newfangled looks one of the stronger pieces of form on offer. He looks a shade overpriced in the market with so many boxes ticked.
