Today’s Advice

ROARING RALPH (7f Hcap) – The (2.57) Redcar looks an interesting contest with the favourite Toralou looking to reproduce her excellent racecourse debut from nearly two years ago over six furlongs at Haydock behind subsequent double Group 3 winner Great Generation. She has ran twice since on the all-weather following a 547 day break, and the results haven’t been great by any means. She flopped as an even money favourite at Wolverhampton back in January, and while showing a lot more last time out in a very slowly run race at Newcastle behind Commanding Prince she did hang left when asked to quicken over a furlong out before keeping on at the finish. The handicapper has given her a chance from an opening mark of 70, and she could be much better than a Class 5 handicapper, but I would have liked to see a bit more from her recently. The selection is a solid handicapper who has been hitting the crossbar lately on the sand at Newcastle. He is rated a pound lower than his last win, and is a course and distance winner. He could only manage a fifth place last time out over seven furlongs beaten three and three quarter lengths at Newcastle behind Cusack, but connections have switched back from cheekpieces to blinkers today, which looks to be his preferred headgear. Jockey Sean Kirrane gets on well with him, having won on him in the past, and has ridden three winners from five rides for the Michael Dods stable in the past month. Everything looks in place for another solid effort today, and he looks the right price for a sporting interest.
