Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/w Shining Aitch (99) – A very strong race for the grade with the winner The Mpex Kid (105) equalling his career best on the clock at the weights while trying a new distance. I had the selection running only to a length faster, and connections will be hoping to find a weaker (47-65) than this going forward.
Today’s Advice
Glory Sky (8f Hcap) – This Richard Hannon trained filly reopposes recent Lingfield winner Labiqa on 6lb better terms in tonight’s (7.30) Chelmsford. The race itself looks the one to concentrate on considering the winning time was 11 lengths faster than Par. A case can be made for the easy winner that day, who showed a nice turn of foot to win going away by 1 1/2 lengths. There may be a chance that the selection might get a lot closer tonight, and if connections are a bit more proactive maybe even shake up the winner. The daughter of Cotai Glory has been held up to an extreme the last twice, but for her win at Kempton in May she raced much more prominently. With a better draw in stall (1) tonight I am hoping that they use the draw to their advantage, and don’t give away so much ground early on. There was a lot to like about her effort lto having raced wide all the way round, and staying on nicely into fifth. It all points to a nicely handicapped horse racing off (65) and apprentice Joe Leavy takes a further 7lbs off.
Imperial Dream (7f Hcap) – This lightly raced Sir Mark Prescott trained gelding looks to be still improving on the clock. and recorded a decent third place behind Yaaser lto at Southwell. The handicapper has raised him 4lbs, and Sir Mark has put up 5lb apprentice Morgan Cole to offset the rise in tonight’s (8.00) Chelmsford. Morgan has won on him two runs back at Chepstow, and the horse’s record over tonight’s distance on sand reads 213. With form horses like Cloud Cover and Okami at the front of the market, it may well be that the son of Holy Roman Emperor is a little overpriced tonight. There may be slight concerns over two vet’s certificate notices recently, but I will have to take on board that the master trainer knows what he is doing as usual.
