Today’s Advice
RAKAAN (6f Maiden) – The (11.00) Jebel Ali looks an interesting race on a quiet day with eight unraced two-year-olds going to post. Although all the contestants are unraced plenty have raced in barrier trials already. Current short priced favourite Ashwaan won his trial at today’s venue over four furlongs from the front very comfortably and we can see why he is at the head of the market. I awarded him a timefigure of (98) for that performance and it looks like there is plenty more to come.
Meydan staged an eleven race trials day on the 29th October and race 1 and race 3 stood out on the clock won by Six Speed and Spacetown respectively. The selection finished runner-up in race 3 beaten 6 lengths by the impressive winner. He was impeded in his run halfway through the race by the winner and still managed to finish off his race well. I awarded him a (100) timefigure for that effort which should be upgraded for the interference.
As we know transferring form from the bend at Meydan to the straight at Jebel Ali is far from straightforward, but at the prices on offer I was happy to have a small interest. The other two-year-old to note from the Meydan trials was the Michael Costa trained Shayesh who raced in a slowly run barrier trial behind Lino Padrino but was putting in nice work at the finish.
