Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Aa Rx Burn (60) – A disappointing performance on the clock from the selection who couldn’t find the early pace to lie up with the leaders. He was always under pressure throughout and both horse and jockey did well to stay on for the silver medal. Result 2nd 5/1 adv..9/2 SP.

0.75pt e/way Tjareed (102) – A solid enough effort from the selection who was always going to be questionable for the final furlong and having led for most of the way found one too good in the imposing winner. A drop back to six furlongs might be beneficial in the future. Result 2nd 4/1 adv..4/1 SP (R4 5p)

0.5pt e/way Go Chrome Go (89) – A mystifying performance from the selection who never looked threatening and trailed in a well beaten 16 3/4 lengths by the winner. He looks a shell of the promising type he was back home. A step up to a mile looks badly needed and even then it remains to be seen what he can offer.

Today’s Advice

FORTAMOUR (6f Hcap) – The (6.40) Newcastle has an interesting shape to the market with the favourite Brazilian Roze back out two days after weakening over seven furlongs at tonight’s venue. Tonight’s trip is a much better distance for her and she meets the selection on seven pound better terms than when beaten over course and distance two weeks ago.

On a strict measure of pounds and lengths it looks like she should beat the Ben Haslam trained nine-year-old but it’s that last half furlong that would worry me about Brazilian Rose. She travels like a dream but sometimes finds a lot less than likely. The selection found plenty at the finish when winning last time out and the handicapper has been very kind in only putting him up a pound.

He still looks well handicapped on previous form having performed with great credit off marks in the 80’s and with Joanna Mason back on board having won twice before on him everything looks in place for another solid display.
