Yesterday’s Review
1pt e/way Meshtri (100) – A fifteen lengths per mile inferior performance compared to the last day from the selection. Unfortunately, the favourite Laurel River (111) and the selection took each other on for the lead, and both compromised their chances for the finish.
1pt e/way Imperial Emperor (112) – A disappointing effort from the selection who recorded a time five lengths per mile inferior to his most recent effort over the mile, despite finishing second. The winner Walk Of Stars (115) won nicely, and it looks like a drop back to a mile is needed for Imperial Emperor. Result 2nd 6/1 adv..4/1 SP.
1pt win Measured Time (0) – The combination of horse and jockey went too fast through the early stages of the race resulting in the selection becoming very tired in the home straight before, unfortunately, breaking down near the finish line. The race was set up nicely for Romantic Warrior (123) who recorded a career best performance on the clock, while also breaking the track record.
1pt win Bomb Squad (100) – The selection was a little off his recent best, while the winner King’s Crown (102) was two pounds better off for a three quarter length beating by the selection last time out. The first time cheekpieces looked to have worked a treat for the winner, while Bomb Squad looked like he might need a little break now.
Today’s Advice
Billy Mill (7f 36y Hcap) – A solid performance last time out from the selection in a higher grade should see him with every chance of finding the winner’s enclosure in tonight’s (6.20) Wolverhampton. On that occasion he raced in midfield from stall seven, and kept on inside the final furlong to finish fifth to Apiarist beaten just a length and three quarters. He is back over the same course and distance where he won from a three pound lower mark back in February, and a kind draw in stall four should see him obtain a nice position with a bit of luck. Lewis Edmunds who was on board last time out retains the ride, and the Rod Millman stable is in decent form with a 63% RTF (Running To Form) stat from the Racing Post.
