1pt win Praetorian (112) – Another step forward on the clock from the selection who did very well to get his head in front at the winning line considering he had to contest the lead with front runner Al Arbed (103). The ten pound rise in the weights put a lot of observers off but the clock was telling a different story. Result 1st 7/2 adv…3/1 SP (Rule 4 30p)
1pt win Hint Of Humour (99) – Another solid effort from the selection having tracked the pace and led over a furlong from home she came up a half length short at the line. She was out in front long enough and the race rewarded those held up off the pace.
0.5pt e/way Spinning Dancer (94) – The selection raced too keen early on and found very little when asked to quicken two furlongs out. Connections will have a difficult job getting her head in front.
Today’s Advice
THE ICE PHOENIX/RAMMAYY (7f Hcap) – The (10.30) Jebel Ali looks an interesting contest with short priced favourite The Camden Colt returning to the track following a 286 day break. He looks on a stiff enough mark for what he has achieved so far and I was happy to look for a bit of value elsewhere.
The former selection looked to really enjoy his dirt debut last time out over the round mile at this morning’s venue when cruising home by three and a half lengths in a Class 4 handicap having raced wide early on. This is a step up in class but the (110) timefigure recorded would indicate that he should be very competitive from a 7lb higher mark. The drop back to seven furlongs might not be ideal but he is in such good form he looks worth an interest at the prices on offer.
The latter selection showed himself to be a talented two-year-old when recording a (110) timefigure over course and distance last season. He went three lengths per mile better on the clock when finishing behind Dark Saffron over six furlongs at Meydan on seasonal debut last month and while slightly disappointing behind Echo Point two weeks later he should appreciate the return to today’s track.
