Starsoftheclock Saturday 27th March 2026 Selections And Review

28th March, 2026 @ 9:55am

Yesterday’s Review

1pt win Saytarr (106) – The selection completed the hat-trick on his first visit to Newcastle having came from the rear to lead inside the final furlong and hold on by a neck. He is 3-3 for the James Horton stable now and should not go up too much for this win. Result 1st 3/1 adv…2/1f SP.

0.75pt ew Havana Prince (104) – The race played out perfect for the selection tracking the leader Master Richard (103) with a gap back to the rest of the field. He took up the running a furlong from home and held on by a neck from the long time leader. It was good to see him backing up his previous eye-catching effort for connections at such a rewarding price. Result 1st 201/ adv….20/1 SP (Rule 4 10p)

1.5pts win Sports Coach (104) – A disappointing performance from the selection who became outpaced at a crucial part of the race over a furlong from home before keeping on at the finish. He didn’t get the clearest of runs through inside the final furlong but he needed to travel better throughout. In the end he came up a length and a half short in fifth place.

Today’s Advice

WHITCOMBE ROCKSTAR (11f Hcap) – Trainer Keiran Burke has done a splendid job with this seven-year-old having improved him 24lbs and won 9 races since 2023. He is currently on a hat-trick having won over 11f and 12f at today’s venue recently. He has a real affection for Kempton having won seven times round here. A (115) timefigure back here in January when finishing a head in front of Beylerbei tops the course charts for today’s (2.42) Kempton. The recent application of the visor seems to have brought about more improvement and last time out winning jockey Danny Muscutt is back on board once again. He can race in touch of the leaders or held up in rear so he looks flexible regards to riding style. It is worth noting that he is just 1lb above his winning handicap mark from October 2024 for today’s contest and he sets a strong standard for the rest of the field to aim at.

Favourite Respond was impressive last time out at Chelmsford when making most of the running to record a (116) timefigure but this will be his first visit to Kempton and at the prices I am happy to go with the proven course form of the selection.
