Today’s Advice

Wilde And Dandy (7f 14y Hcp) – I was happy to let this four-year-old go unbacked over the mile last time out after doing us a favour over today’s course and distance eighteen days ago. Back over his preferred trip today, and from a kinder draw he looks worth an interest in the (3.45) Southwell to continue his consistent form. His winning time when beating Charlie Mason by three quarters of a length would indicate that he can still win races from his current handicap mark. Marco Ghiani takes the ride today, and with plenty of prominent racers in the contest he looks set for another solid performance.

Tasever (8f 5y Hcap) – This Patrick Morris trained four-year-old had to wait over two years to break his maiden tag when winning over course and distance last month from Wheres The Crumpet by half a length. He has been operating at a low level lately, and ran better than it may have looked last time out in a Class 4 contest behind the in-form Eagle Day. He was stepping up to the extended nine furlongs that day, and weakened in the home straight after making much of the running from his wide draw in stall ten. He should appreciate the drop back to today’s class and distance for the (5.00) Newcastle. There is a chance he might get his own way out in front again, and on course form with favourite Volenti from October looks a bit overpriced for today’s contest.
