Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Alpha Capture (Non Runner – Meeting Abandoned) Stake Returned

1pt win Newsreader (Non Runner – Off Feed) Stake Returned

0.75pt e/way Gone Rogue (59) – A race which saw two of the prominent racers Sant Alessio and Artavian declared as non-runners resulting in the race turning into a farce with no front runner. Favourite Kimeko Glory (64) didn’t want to lead and was pulling very hard which done for her chances. The race wasn’t run to suit the selection and a line can be put through this effort as he weakened into 6th place over a furlong from home.

Today’s Advice

UNCHARTEDTERRITORY (12f Hcap) – With the going described as Soft (Heavy in Places) for today’s (2.20) Beverley there are very few contestants with form on this type of going. The selection has won over 9f at Carlisle on a Good to Soft (Soft in places) surface when the track was riding 20 lengths slow on the day. He raced prominently and took up the running a furlong from home before keeping on under Danny Tudhope for a 1.5 length victory over the Gemma Tutty trained Ephron. The form of the race looks solid with four future winners in behind.

Next time out at Ayr the selection could only manage a keeping on 6th place in behind Pol Roger on a Good (Good to Soft) surface, but it should be noted that the winning times on the day (on the round track) were over 15 lengths faster than standard. Back on a soft surface this unexposed three-year-old should be much more at home. He has yet to race over 12f but there are positive signs on breeding as his full brother Yaakoum trained by Richard Hannon won twice over the distance.

ROSARIO (5f Hcap) – The ground is being described as Good for today’s (5.10) Sandown and with around 8mm of rain forecast – combined with how the sprint course usually rides softer than advertised – conditions should suit this likeable five-year-old. Once rated as high as 102, he now finds himself 9lb below his last winning handicap mark from early last season. He looked unlucky when last seen racing on a Soft surface at Ascot behind another of today’s rivals Roach Power last October. Attempting to concede 19lb to the Michael Wigham trained six-year-old he had to wait for a gap to appear 2 furlongs from home before running on well at the finish to go down by a length and a quarter. He has been running consistently this season on faster surfaces and should appreciate the rain that has fallen this week at today’s venue. With a 10lb pull at the weights with his old adversary he looks one to keep on the right side of as we head into the Autumn programme.

A hold-up performer we will be hoping for a decent pace up front from Marching Mac, Lipsink and Zoulu Chief. Rossa Ryan has been booked and he has been successful aboard Dancing Gemini in the Bet365 Mile for connections last season, among many other wins, since his association with the stable back in 2017.

BAYSIDE VIEW (7f Group 3 – Sunday) – Anybody who saw this filly race at Sandown last time out will have put her straight into the notebook as she looked a desperately unlucky loser behind Aperoll. She blew the start on that occasion, having made all the running previously at Newbury. Despite that, she still only went down by a neck having made impressive headway on the outside two furlongs from home. If she can land in between both possible starting positions for Sunday’s (3.10) Goodwood it will take a very good one to lower her colours.

She looks to be a fast improving two-year-old filly for trainer Michael Bell, and with Oisin Murphy back on board the combination should go very close. With a bit of pace on up front from Aperoll and Coaxed the selection should be able to wear these two down with a similar effort to last time out.
