Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Eight By Ten (88) – A step back in form from the selection who looked uncomfortable on the track, and found very little when asked for his effort.

Today’s Advice

Makarova (5f 10y Gp3) – This five-year-old mare improved 11lbs last season from a handicap mark of 93, and finished runner-up to Equality in this race last year. There looks to be plenty of pace on in today’s (1.50) Sandown and as a hold-up performer conditions might suit her even better in this year’s contest. With a decent headwind forecast for today, it may suit those being held up and getting cover. She looks the right price for an interest with Live In The Dream and Desperate Hero looking to go from the front.

Classic (8f Hcap) – This four-year-old looked very unlucky last time out when failing by a neck to run down Two Tempting over course and distance from a wide draw in stall fourteen. With a better draw in stall eight for today’s (2.15) Sandown, and a bit more luck in running, Pat Dobbs mount could go one place better. Point Lynas should set the pace, and hopefully the selection can be given less to do from the rear today. There looks to have been plenty of rain with 16mm in the last twenty four hours, and the ground advertised as Soft, which should suit this son of Dubawi.

Ledger (9f Hcap) – This Lucinda Russell trained four-year-old finished third behind Shahanaz last time beaten a length on a day where it paid to be ridden close to the pace. The selection re-opposes the Darragh Bourke trained five-year-old mare in tonight’s (8.50) Carlisle, and with a bit more pace in the race should go close to reversing the previous form. It will be hoped that prominent racer Star Start can apply a bit more pressure to the pace this time, and Brandon Wilkie can make good use of his five pound allowance aboard the son of Profitable.
