Yesterday’s Review
0.75pt e/way Calafrio (96) – While it may have seemed the selection was in great form having been backed from 8/1 the night before into 11/4, there was always the chance that three solid efforts in a row would be asking too much, and so it proved. As soon as any pressure was applied in the straight she went backwards.
0.75pt e/way Vivienda (109) – A solid display from the selection who showed that a mile proved no problem by staying on well to finish in second place a length behind the winner Sakti (110). It was a surprise that Andromeda and Iseult of Ireland applied no pace pressure to the favourite, who was allowed to come across from the widest draw and dictate his own pace. A bit of pace pressure might have made things a bit more interesting at the finish. Result 2nd 15/2 adv…17/2 SP.
0.5pt e/way Sayfa Fad (90) – The selection had nowhere to hide last night having raced in touch with the leaders. Unfortunately, when the pace quickened she was very reluctant to put her best foot forward. Connections would be wise to try headgear going forward.
0.5pt e/way Morning Approach (102) – A return to form for the selection who ran to the figure I had in mind for her. Unfortunately, the winner and ex-Godolphin trained Tribal Moon (104) put up a career best and really appreciated his polytrack debut. Result 3rd 8/1 adv…11/2 SP.
Today’s Advice
Two Stars (6f Hcap) – This Fozzy Stack trained four-year-old looks some way ahead of the handicapper judging by his (115) speed figure at Cork in March, and his most recently recorded (114) at The Curragh when winning by a length and a half over Never Shout Never six days ago following a break. He has already won over six furlongs at Cork last season, and connections have no choice but to go again under a five pound penalty. He looks a Group horse in the making if he can be kept in one piece, and on what looks a difficult day warrants an interest at the prices on offer. A reproduction of his latest performance would see him very difficult to beat.
