Tyger Bay (6f 1y Hcap) – This seven-year-old hold up performer won his first race in nearly a year when having the perfect set-up last month over the six furlong twenty yard trip at Wolverhampton. Racing off a low handicap mark of 72 (he had previously won off 79 and had been placed off 84) he came through off a fast pace to lead inside the final furlong and finish 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Honour Your Dreams. The pace didn’t collapse as much at Kempton next time, but there looks to be plenty of pace on in today’s (3.00) Lingfield with Habooba, One Night Stand and Prince Of Zenda having made the running recently. As always there is the danger that what pace appears on paper may not always show up in the race, but at the prices the selection looks worth taking that chance with.

River Wharfe (8f 1y Hcap) – This six-year-old steps up to the mile for today’s (3.30) Lingfield having raced over an inadequate six furlongs last time out. He races off a career low mark of 52 and apprentice Jack Doughty takes off a further 7lbs. He is back racing over a similar distance to his last victory over the extended mile at Wolverhampton when rated 64, and this hold-up performer will be looking for the likes of Sir Titan, Rabinal and Island Native to ensure a truly run race. He can race keenly in his races, and needs everything to fall right for him, but looks worth a small interest at a double figure price.
