Makarova (113) – A race that went to plan despite Live In The Dream not being able to force the pace with Equality taking up that role instead. With headwinds reaching nineteen miles per hour it looked like getting cover was going to be a big help, and so it proved. The selection was given a superb ride by Hector Crouch who saved energy early on, and made headway over a furlong out, before getting up on the line. A deserved success for the horse. Result 1st 7/1 adv…9/2 SP.
Classic (90) – A slowly run race which saw the selection race too keenly before weakening over a furlong out. He looks a difficult horse to win with bringing his career strike rate to two wins from thirteen.
Ledger (100) – A decent enough pace provided by Shahnaz and Star Start, however, Brandon Wilkie’s mount suffered from his wide draw in stall ten and had to race from a poor position in last place. He encountered plenty of trouble in his run, and the jockey accepted the situation inside the final furlong. There should be a win in the horse from this handicap mark when things fall better for him.
