Starsoftheclock Sunday 7th June 2026 Selections And Review

7th June, 2026 @ 11:25am

Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Cindy Lou Who (103) – The selection found things happening too quickly over this course and distance but was finishing third best of the entire field with a (12.66 secs) final furlong. A keeping on ninth place beaten 3.75 lengths was the best she could manage. She looks ready to go close again at a more conventional track.

0.75pt e/way James J Braddock (114) – This three-year-old colt ran a remarkable race considering he was “unruly” before the race and didn’t exit the stalls too sharply. He made headway over two furlongs out but was taken further across the track than ideal on two occasions. He stayed on to finish third beaten 5.25 lengths and considering all that went wrong did very well to make the frame. Result 3rd 17/2, 8/1 adv..9/1 SP. (Rule 4 25p)

0.5pt e/way Maltese Cross (115) – An excellent performance from the selection who reported by connections to have hated the soft going but showed his incredible determination to make headway over three furlongs out and keep on into second place beaten 2.75 lengths by the winner Christmas Day (117). He is an exciting, progressive colt that will appreciate better ground going forward. Result 2nd 10/1 adv…12/1 SP. (Rule 4 25p)

Today’s Advice

BOTAGOZ (9f 197y Lstd) – The (3.35) Goodwood looks a race worth getting involved in with the top two in the market on a bit of a recovery mission following recent efforts. The favourite Sacred Ground is a difficult character to catch right as she wears a cross noseband. The second favourite Rose Ghaiyyath would have found the ground riding too fast in the 1000 Guineas and should appreciated today’s softer conditions. She does have some decent two-year-old form but we have yet to see if she retains that ability, and she looks a short enough price in the market. The selection is race fit and was keeping on well over the mile at York last time out to finish third behind Lilt in a similar race to today’s. The ground looked quick enough for her on that occasion. Today’s combination of a step up in trip and softer conditions should see her come forward again and at the prices on offer she looks worth an interest.
