Starsoftheclock Sunday 9th August 2026 Selections And Review

9th August, 2026 @ 10:56am

Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way All Way Glamorous (105) – The selection missed the break at the start and was rushed up to lead at a fast early pace. He did well to come home in fourth place beaten 3.5 lengths all things considering.

1.5pts e/way Pierre Grosse (102) – The decent pace that looked to appear on paper beforehand never really materialised as the first three home raced in the first four positions throughout. The selection and the favourite looked the most inconvenienced as they raced in last and second last place. Luke Ferraris’ mount posted the fastest 10th and 11th furlongs of the contest before weakening inside the final furlong. Unfortunately, there is a lot less truly run contests these days and I will try to land on more prominent racers going forward….

Today’s Advice

AFANDY (6.5f Gp1) – True Love looks the class act in the (3.40) Deauville Prix Maurice De Gheest and has been put in as the short price favourite. The drop back to 6.5 furlongs may not be in her favour as there doesn’t appear to be much pace on paper in the contest. There are plenty of hold-up horses in the line-up but the selection looks one of the only ones that could go forward with any degree of confidence. Last time out in the Group 2 Prix Paul De Moussac over 7f he was forced to race towards the rear from his wide draw at Longchamp and he resented it racing keenly throughout. He stuck on remarkably gamely at the finish to take fourth place beaten just 2 lengths. Prior to that he made all the running in the Group 2 Prix Djebel at today’s venue over 7f to finish a comfortable 1.75 lengths ahead of Samangan. He can be slowly away from the stalls but has made the running in previous wins at Cagnes-Sur-Mer and Tarbes previously. Regular pilot Cristian Demuro knows him well and with very little pace on today he could outrun his odds from the front.

0.75pt e/way (16/1 Paddy Power, Skybet 4 places) 3.40 Deauville (Most firms are going 18/1 3 places but I would advise to take a slightly shorter price and avail of the extra place)
