1pt e/way Lir Speciale (105) – The selection provided jockey Conor Whiteley with his first winner and it was a fine determined ride from the apprentice. It was a very similar performance to his latest victory over course and distance and having taken up the running inside the final two furlongs both horse and jockey battled all the way to the line to come home in front by a half length. Result 1st 6/1 adv…11/2 SP.
0.5pt e/way It Just Takes Time (91) – This was a long way from last year’s winning performance of this race. The jockey reported that his mount hung right inside the final two furlongs.
1pt e/way Trust Amy (85) – With little to no pace in the race the selection raced keen out in front with Sagremor and set the race up nicely for the closers. Her early exertions cost us her at the finish as she weakened into sixth place beaten seven lengths and she will be seen to better effect with some pace to aim at.
1pt e/way Fine Interview (101) – The selection looked all set for a winning performance having been backed from 7/1 the night before into 16/5 favourite. Unfortunately, he was a long way off his latest victory only managing ninth place beaten five and a half lengths. Perhaps he needed more than a 15 day break between races on this occasion.
0.5pt e/way Lord Bertie (94) – Jockey Mark Winn decided to come all the way across from his low draw to the near side despite the winner racing far side… The horse raced keen early on and never threatened. A performance to put a line through.
1pt e/way Atherstone Warrior (104) – A decent enough effort from the selection on his first attempt at the distance just weakening into third place at the business end of the race. He has had a fine season and should give connections more fun next season. Result 3rd 7/1 adv…11/2 SP.
0.5pt e/way Miss Dolly Rocker (106) – This five-year-old mare belied her odds for new trainer Faye Bramley and having took up the running over two furlongs from it looked like the fairytale story was about to come true. Unfortunately, that dastardly Mister Haggas had other ideas and his joint favourite Castle Cove swept by over a furlong from home to record a four and a quarter length victory. It was an excellent display from the mare and showed again that she is at her best when conditions are testing. Result 2nd 40/1 adv…33/1 SP.
