Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Draiocht (95) – The slow early pace resulted in the selection racing too keenly, and his finish in the home straight was compromised because of it. He could only manage a well beaten eighth place, and his tendency to race keenly means that he will need a lot to go right for him to make it into the winner’s enclosure.
0.5pt e/way Marchetti (92) – A rare poor performance from the selection who was hampered in her run in the home straight, and never looked dangerous.
Today’s Advice
Bomb Squad (6f Hcap) – The (2.52) Newcastle looks a competitive low grade sprint, and a case could be made for quite a few of them. On a day where few contestants appealed I was happy to have a small interest on this six-year-old at a course where he has done well in the past. He is on a handicap mark now three pounds below his last winning one, and his two most recent efforts show him to be in decent form. His course record reads 2-6-2, and two runs back over six furlongs at Wolverhampton he only went down by a neck having come from further back than the two that beat him having been carried right by the winner Global Effort. He should appreciate the return to today’s distance having finished fifth last time out over the extended seven furlongs at Wolverhampton, and he looks the right price for a sporting interest on what looks a difficult day.
