Yesterday’s Review
Somelovefromabove (97) – The selection couldn’t repeat his previous performance finishing a well beaten eleventh of twelve six lengths behind the winner. His effort was about 9 lengths per mile below his latest win. He never travelled with zest and he didn’t respond to his jockey’s urgings to find a more prominent early position or quicken in the straight. He was well fancied having been backed from 11/2 into 47/10 having pleased connections since his win. A disappointing performance as can sometimes happen.
Today’s Advice
SAM’S HOPE (5f Hcap) – The five furlong trip at Southwell is one of two straight all-weather five furlong tracks in the country and as such it is usually best to stick with course and distance form. The selection’s recent course and distance win when recording a (103) timefigure rates the best of today’s field at today’s venue. Trainer Martin Dunne has the five-year old mare in fine form with three wins from her last five races. She raced in midfield when winning over course and distance last month before leading a furlong from home and coming clear by one and three quarter lengths from The Fixer in a class 6 contest.
Last time out over the extended six furlong trip at Wolverhampton she performed equally well on the clock from a wide draw in stall eleven when finishing a length and three quarters behind the James Owen trained Neptune Legend.
Her main danger on the clock would appear to be the David O’Meara trained favourite Ziggy’s Triton who has been unable to get his head in front over the minimum trip at Lingfield recently.
