Yesterday’s Review

0.75pt e/way Dappled Light (100) – The selection recorded the number I had in mind for him on the clock, but had to give best to an excellent ride administered by Oisin Murphy on My Ambiton (102). Oisisn made sure the winner didn’t get involved in the early pace, and had plenty left for the finish. Result 2nd 5/1 adv…5/1 SP.

0.75pt e/way Skontonovski (94) – A massively disappointing performance from the selection who failed to reproduce his Fairyhouse form. The betting market correctly predicted the performance with the selection drifting out to an 11/1 starting price. He has performed well when asked to come out again quickly in the past, but there was very little response when asked in the home straight.

0.5pt e/way Bluebells Boy (97) – The going was changed twice during the card to eventually be called Good ground after the second race. It was worth having a small interest in the selection with conditions likely to go the way they did. The winning times indicated ground that was just over two lengths per mile slower than standard. Bluebells Boy should appreciate even faster conditions going forward, but still performed with great credit coming home behind the deserved winner Fletcher’s Flight (100). Result 2nd 10/1 adv…15/2 SP.

Today’s Advice

Precision Storm (10f Hcap) – This seven-year-old had been quiet of late both on turf and sand, but managed to find the winner’s enclosure last time out at Bath on a sound surface racing from a handicap mark of 62. Racing prominently that day he took up the running a furlong out, before idling towards the finish, eventually coming home in front by a neck. The handicapper could only raise him 2lbs for that effort, and a repeat performance in today’s (5.10) Chepstow should see him go close. Conditions at the track have dried out in the last twenty four hours, and the advertised going is now Good (Good To Firm in places) with a going stick reading of (7.3). Considering the selection won off a handicap mark of 68 two years ago, and had been rated 85 just last year on the all-weather, he could still be well treated providing he can reproduce his latest effort. Recent Brighton winner and current short priced favourite Bobacious should provide a decent pace for him to aim at.
