Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Pink Oxalis (99) – A better finish from the filly this time, however the start cost her any chance of victory having to begin her run from near last place. She managed to find a way through the pack in the home straight, but found the winner a length and a quarter too good. Result 2nd 9/2, 4/1 adv…15/2 SP.

0.75pt e/way Bishopton (102) – Another step forward from this two-year-old improving five lengths per mile on his latest effort. He was the gamble of the race having touched 15/2 in the afternoon before going off 2/1 favourite. Unfortunately, he had to give best to an unraced Joseph O’Brien trained winner in Cee En Gee (103) by a half length, after taking up the running two furlongs from home. He should go one place better very soon. Result 2nd 5/1 adv…2/1F SP.

1.5pts win Trishuli River (106) – A race where the winner Eighty Eight (107) was given way too much rope by his rivals, just managing to hold on by a short head after building up a sizeable lead before the home straight. It was a case of a well ridden race by the winner, and poor judgement from the rest of them. The selection was given too much to do from five pound apprentice jockey Hugh Horgan who asked the filly to make up fifteen lengths on the winner from the three furlong pole. She performed admirably in the end just failing by three quarters of a length back in third place.

0.5pt e/way Jazz Forever (102) – A decent enough return from the selection who landed in a very strong (47-70) handicap for the grade. He chased the clear leader before weakening in the home straight, beaten five and a half lengths into ninth place. it will be interesting to see if he can build on this.
