0.5pt e/way Gilet (98) – A slowly run affair where nobody wanted to lead early on. The selection raced in midfield and was denied a clear run in the home straight before finishing well into 6th place beaten 2.5 lengths. He can do better in a more truly run race.
0.5pt e/way Chalk Mountain (99) – Similar comments for this one who managed to hit the frame finishing 4th beaten 1.5 lengths. Result 4th 5/1…7/1 SP.
1.5pts e/way Tiernan (112) – The fastest race on the clock and another career best timefigure from the selection. He raced in midfield and had every chance over a furlong out but was just worried out of it by a well-handicapped three-year-old. He came home in 3rd place just beaten two necks. Result 3rd 9/2 adv…7/2 SP.
Today’s Advice
AEROVOLANIC (7f Hcap) – The (10.45) Sha Tin looks an open contest with the three at the head of the betting all put in at a similar price. Master Lucky got off the mark for the first time over today’s trip when last seen at the backend of last season. He raced prominently and recorded a (104) timefigure when leading inside the final furlong and holding on for a three quarter length victory from Harold Win. Runner-up on seasonal debut early last month behind Joyful Joy, he had to use up a bit of petrol early on to overcome his draw in stall 13, and looks like he has come on nicely for that judging by the weights. He does step up to Class 3 here though and he might find one or two of these a bit tougher to overcome.
Superb Spirit is having his seasonal debut and stepping up to 7f for the first time today. He won twice over 6f last season and looks like he has come in a bit light for this contest judging by last season’s results. The selection is an improving dual course and distance winner who gets the benefit of 7lb apprentice Nichola Yuen on board. With 6 wins already on the board this season from 29 rides she has been winning at over 20%. This five-year-old put in a solid shift on seasonal debut last month when only finding Nyx Gluck too strong over course and distance when recording a (106) timefigure. Already a Class 3 winner the prominent racing son of Frosted has a lot of boxes ticked from stall 1 for today’s contest.
