1.5pts e/way Storming Dragon (103) – The advertised going was changed from Good to Yielding to Good and the forecast rain never materialised which went against the selection. He never travelled the way he can during the race but did very well to battle his way into third place on the line from midfield beaten just under 3 lengths. Result 3rd 5/1 adv….31/10 SP.
Today’s Advice
EL BUFALO (5f Hcap) – This five-year-old caught the eye in sixth place last time out at Ascot behind Far Above Dream over the minimum trip. On that occasion he was drawn poorly on the far side group and was switched all the way over to race near side. He was keeping on well at the finish just beaten over 2 lengths despite conditions being against him. The handicapper has left him alone for tonight’s (6.05) Chepstow and with the going currently described as Good to Soft, with a dry day ahead, underfoot conditions should be fine for him. There looks to be a bit of pace to aim at with prominent racers Em Four, So Smart and Lazzar in opposition so he should have every chance of repeating his latest performance.
BOMB SQUAD (6f Hcap) – This horse needs no introduction and jockey Hollie Doyle has built up a very successful relationship with the eight-year-old for the John Mackie stable having won the last three times she has ridden him. The handicapper has only put him up 2lb for his latest course win over 7f, and while that may be his best distance at the moment, he has won over course and distance as recently as last January. His course record is extremely impressive with four wins, four second place finishes and a third place finish from his last thirteen races at the track.
The faster they go up front the better and prominent racers Tommy McJohn, Iconic Times and Forever Noah should ensure a decent pace for tonight’s (9.00) Southwell. He has yet to win off a mark of 63 in the past but he is in the form of his life having won three of his last six contests and he looks worth a sporting interest to put on a another solid display tonight.
