Yesterday’s Advice

0.5pt e/way Langholm (102) – May well have not won for over two years, but had been performing admirably on the clock on many occasions this season. The slower ground looked to play more to his strengths than the opposition, and the uncontested lead that appeared on paper materialised on track too. Connor Beasley rode a superb race from the front, saving for the finish in the straight, demonstrating how Thirsk should be ridden these days by avoiding the inner rail all the way home. Result 1st 15/2 adv…11/2 SP.

0.5pt e/way Bigz Belief (101) – The fastest race on the round course on the day. The selection does himself no favours with his early position in races. It looks like the race appears to have been a stronger one on the clock than anticipated beforehand. Jockey Declan McDonagh reported that the gelding never travelled, and that’s how it looked on screen too.

Today’s Advice

Fastman (7f 211y Hcap) – This eight-year-old caught the eye from a wide draw over seven furlongs at Gowran Park last time out for his new trainer John McConnell. On that occasion he looked a bit short of room having come across from the outside and was only beaten two lengths at the finish, He has dropped a stone in the weights for today’s (5.30) Bellewstown since his last win almost two years ago. His trainer is adept at revitalising horses who have lost their form, recent examples include Scarlet Dancer and Gatsby Cap. Cian Fahy takes the ride in this apprentice race and this will be the best chance he has had to visit the winner’s enclosure from the fifteen rides he has had so far. With plenty of pace in the race from the likes of Smaoineamh Sile and The Bog Bank it is hoped that the selection, who won last time over course and distance, gets plenty of cover in behind on a day where up to twenty mile an hour easterly winds are forecast.
