0.75pt e/way Oriental Surprise (100) – A flat effort at the business end from the selection who was backed into 27/10 favourite. He raced in midfield and made some headway over a furlong from home but had nothing to offer when asked to find another gear. Perhaps he had not recovered fully from his latest exertions. There should be a Class 5 contest in him sooner rather than later.

0.75pt e/way City Cyclone (110) – A career best from the selection on the clock thanks to the strong pace set by Mr Lightside (105) and Merrimack (95). He travelled in rear and had to be switched to obtain a clear run over a furlong from home before wearing down Hundred Caps (109) near the finish. Trainer Tony Carroll has him in excellent shape at the moment and he should not go up too much for this half length victory. Result 1st 17/2 adv…17/2 SP (Rule 4 15p)
