Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Shelbourne (103) – A solid performance from the selection who did best of those that challenged up the far rail in the home straight. I always feel that those coming down the centre of the track have an advantage at Kempton, and so it proved here with the first two home taking that route. Callum Shepherd’s mount enjoyed the step up in trip having tracked the pace, and came home nicely against the far rail to go down by just a length. There should be a little race in him going forward. Result 3rd 16/1 adv…17/2 SP.
Today’s Advice
Glen Princess (9f 39y Hcap) – This three-year-old won impressively by over five and a half lengths, with first-time blinkers on, last time out at Gowran Park over the mile. That race was only a claimer but the manner of her victory indicated that she may be able to make her mark in today’s (4.30) Punchestown. There is always a chance that blinkers are not as effective second time round, but there is enough in her price to warrant taking that chance. Trainer Johnny Murtagh has put up ten pound claimer Patrick McGettigan on the horse, and the young rider has a win already to his name after just ten rides. The extra furlong on today’s sharper track looks worth exploring considering her dam Supercharged has already bred two other winners from ten to twelve furlongs. The opposition have been less than impressive lately, and or well found in the market, and I would have had our filly a few points shorter on my prices.
