0.5pt e/way Collective Power (100) – The selection met trouble from the rear on more than one occasion inside the final two furlongs coming home two and three quarter lengths back in sixth place. He is one to keep in mind when the ground rides even faster.
0.5pt e/way Expert Witness (95) – A slowly run race as expected, and an excellent ride from David Probert who made sure the mare was ridden more forward than the last day at Leicester. When the pace quickened in the home straight David was in the right position to take advantage of his mount’s fine current form, leading a furlong from home and holding off Silver Gunn (94) by a neck. Result 1st 6/1 adv…7/1 SP.
0.5pt e/way Bishopton (96) – A decent enough return from the selection who travelled well into the contest before weakening into fifth place inside the final furlong on ground that was softer than ideal. The winning times on the round course indicated that the ground appeared to have very little “Good to Yielding” in it.
Today’s Advice
LADY MARIKO (8f 75y Hcap) – This three-year-old filly put up a solid display on her turf debut last time out behind Antiquity over course and distance. On that occasion she raced in touch with the leaders, and travelled nicely into the lead over two furlongs from home. She galloped all the way to the line, but just found the first and second too strong in the end. The form has since been shown to be decent with the runner-up Zarathos performing well at Doncaster recently.
Neil Callan takes the ride again, and his experience should put her in good stead against today’s rivals. She does have a tricky draw in stall twelve to overcome, but her pilot’s expertise should be well able to overcome that.
The James Ferguson trained Bay Of Dreams has been put in as favourite following some decent efforts on the all-weather, but it will be interesting to see if she can be as effective on turf today. The selection looks the right price for an each way interest at the prices on offer considering she has one of the strongest pieces of turf form available.
