Yesterday’s Review

1pt e/way Bhean Saibhre (87) – The slowest race on the card and a fine ride by 7lb apprentice Orla Tynan aboard the winner to take up the running over five furlongs from home and gain a decisive advantage that she was able to maintain to the line. The selection performed well enough to reach the places considering she raced more prominently than usual. After making headway over five furlongs out she looked like she might trouble the winner in the home straight but couldn’t find another gear. She should come on for the run and eventually break her maiden tag on the flat this season. Result 3rd 9/2 adv…3/1f.

Today’s Advice

DUSKAURA (5f 21y Hcap) – The (7.30) Wolverhampton looks an interesting contest considering those at the head of the market are making their seasonal debut and the selection has achieved the most on the clock so far of the ones that have raced this year. Tony Carroll’s three-year-old filly raced with credit on seasonal debut over course and distance when coming home in fourth place beaten just over six lengths behind smart performer Baker Blue. She raced keenly on that occasion and in touch of the leaders before making decent headway into third place over two furlongs from home. William Cox’s mount eventually weakened at the finish but a (102) timefigure gave plenty of hope for connections going forward.

A sixth place over course and distance once again last time out could be viewed as slightly disappointing but the race didn’t appear to go her way. She received a bump on leaving the stalls and when making her headway in the home straight it looked like jockey William Carson accepted that she couldn’t find the clearest of paths near the finish and came home in his own time beaten just under four lengths in sixth place. A (100) timefigure was perfectly acceptable in the circumstances and she sits at the top of the sand charts for today’s contest on what has been achieved so far.

The opposition may have achieved more so far on handicap ratings but I certainly wouldn’t have put the selection in as the complete outsider of the field. Hopefully the full compliment of eight runners go to post and she looks worth an each way interest at the early prices this morning.
