Starsoftheclock Tuesday 4th February 2025 Selections And Review

Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Kaleidoscope Eyes (94) – The selection had her own way out in front, and looked like she might go close to winning having touched 1.72 on Betfair in-running. In the end she weakened inside the final furlong, just worried out of the places, and was unlucky to have bumped into two well-bred unexposed types.

1pt win Gustav Graves (100) – Another fine effort from the selection who just failed by a head to reel in the prominently raced winner Rosenpur (101). The slackening of the pace mid-race probably cost him his chance of victory, but at least he is still in fine form.

1pt win Just Ten High (103) – The selection recorded another solid performance on the clock on his first visit to this track. He was given a very good ride by jockey Rhys Clutterbuck who came off the rail from his midfield position over a furlong out and challenged down the middle of the track. He led inside the final furlong and a had a length to spare over Southbank (101) at the finish. There should be another win in him from his revised handicap mark. Result 1st 4/1 adv…3/1 SP.

Today’s Advice

BENEFICIARY (6f Hcap) – Liam Bailey has this six-year-old in fine form at the moment, and much of his chance for tonight’s (6.00) Newcastle will depend on whether the favourite One More Dream is back to his best. Although Jason Hart’s mount was denied a clear run last time out, I wasn’t overly impressed with his finish. The selection has finished first or second in his last four races, and although he has been raised four pounds by the handicapper for his recent win over five furlongs, he does have the excellent seven pound apprentice Warren Fentiman to offset that. Warren has also been in fine form with 8 winners from 59 rides in the last month. The selection races prominently, and has two course and distance wins under his belt from last January. If he can reproduce his best tonight he should take advantage of any weakness in the favourite.
