0.75pt e/way Thanks Dad (96) – The selection was well backed into 4/1 joint favourite but couldn’t find a decent position and was forced to race three wide. He also never looked theatening and went backwards as soon as he was asked for an effort. Not the same horse.

1pt e/way Al Riffa (114) – The winning times on the day were indicating that the ground was more good to soft than soft. Nevertheless, this was not a great pick from myself and again shows the importance of a good draw combined with position. The selection was held up near last and had too much ground to make up with too much weight on a track that didn’t play to his strengths. He plodded on into seventh place but couldn’t show his best on the day.
