Yesterday’s Review
1pt e/way Fircombe Hall (100) – Things didn’t work out great during the race for the selection who had to endure a three wide trip. Thankfully, he was well enough handicapped to overcome that, along with not getting a clear run in the home straight. Result 1st 6/1 adv…10/1 SP.
1pt e/way Blue Hawaii (104) – The step up in trip really suited this mare, and a very decent pace set by Typewritten ably followed by Pysanka and Virtual Hug. She had to wait for her run at the 2 furlong pole, as the 80/1 chance Rubeus almost stole the race (getting first run), before she closed him down nicely near the finish. Result 1st 11/2, 5/1 adv…4/1 SP.
0.75pt e/way City Escape (98) – A race where the first three home were in the first four positions at the 2 furlong pole. A case could have been made for the 40/1 winner seeing as he was the only out and out front runner. Instead, I was hoping Blue Yonder might put him under some pressure and set it up for the closers (which never happened). Note to self. Must do better….
Today’s Advice
Let’s Go Hugo (5f 21y Hcap) – This 3yo gelding finished second in a race that was 9 lengths faster than par lto over C&D after not getting a clear run. Apprentice Brandon Wilkie takes a handy 5lbs off, and with plenty of pace on for tonight’s (6.00) Wolverhampton the race should be run to suit his midfield racing style.
Gincident (8f 142y Hcap) – This Richard Fahey trained 3yo miler caught the eye keeping on over the extended 7 furlongs at this venue lto in a race that was 7 lengths faster than par. Tonight’s (7.00) Wolverhampton trip should be much more to his liking, and remarkably the handicapper has dropped him a pound for that recent effort. Apprentice Ryan Sexton will have to navigate a decent trip from stall nine, and his form ties in well with second favourite Urban Sprawl from this season at Musselburgh.
