Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Pearly Squirrel (101) – Another solid effort from the selection who reproduced her last time out performance on the clock from the front. Unfortunately, the winner Bella Bisbee (104) (who had looked out of form) put in a career best effort and was just stronger at the finish. Result 2nd 9/2 adv…7/2 SP.
Today’s Advice
LETHAL NYMPH/ORIENTAL PRINCE (5f Hcap) – The (5.00) Newcastle looks an interesting race from a timing perspective. The favourite Lethal Nymph caught the eye last time out having not got the clearest of runs behind Dark Cloud Rising before running on well to be beaten just a half length. He is rated eleven pounds below his previous career high of 96 by the handicapper and trainer Paul Midgley looks to have him in fine form at the moment. Despite being 3lb worse off at the weights with the winner he looks to be a better betting option provided he can avoid trouble in running this time.
Jim Goldie has also been in fine form this season and he has done a tremendous job with the selection taking him from a handicap mark of 50 in 2024 to today’s rating which is now 28lbs higher. A prominent racer he ran in a very hot Class 3 race last time out over six furlongs and despite weakening in the final furlong recorded a career best (110) timefigure. He should appreciate the drop back to today’s shorter distance over which he won the time before, and jockey Lauren Young takes a valuable five pounds off his back.
I’m hoping he doesn’t get involved in a pace duel with other prominent racers and providing he is given a sensible ride he should once again be involved at the finish.
