Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Oriental Prince (107) – Another fine effort from the selection who recorded a very similar timefigure to his win over course and distance last month on the clock. He raced prominently again and was only a half length down at the line from the winner Paddy’s Day (108) who had raced on the far rail. THe winner returned to his excellent spring and summer course and distance form following wind surgery and a quiet effort when finishing sixth last month. Result 2nd 15/2, 13/2, 11/2 adv…9/2 SP.

0.5pt e/way Lethal Nymph (103) – PJ McDonald’s mount ran below what was expected and it looked like he raced too keenly early on and had nothing left to offer for the finish. His previous form looked solid and he was backed into 3/1 favourite. It is probably best to put a line through this effort and he should still be winning soon.

Today’s Advice

FREE PONY (6f Hcap) – The (1.10) Happy Valley looks an interesting contest and short price favourite backers will be delighted to see the “Magic Man” Zac Purton aboard Winning Money. He had to use up a bit of petrol early on from his wide draw in stall twelve last time out to get the front before just getting headed near the line by Lakeshore Hero. It was a similar story back in July when he was headed by Monarch County over course and distance having led all the way. I awarded him a (104) timefigure for both efforts and with competition for the lead today I was happy to look for an alternative.

I preferred the Win Method formline from last month over course and distance. The selection finished third in that contest beaten two and a quarter lengths having raced from a wide draw in stall ten and having to give up a lot of ground early on. He finished out his race well enough to secure the bronze medal and with conditions more in his favour today he looks a shade overpriced at a double figure price for today’s contest.

Firstly he has drawn a much better gate in stall five today and he meets the winner on seven pound better terms who is drawn out wide in stall eleven. The selection looks to have improved on the clock since the application of eyeshields having put in a career best (102) timefigure behind Charming Babe on seasonal debut following a 154 day absence. He improved again on that performance last time out recording a (104) timefigure behind Win Method and he looks worth an interest at the prices on offer to continue his improvement.
