Today’s Advice
FIND MY LOVE (6f Hcap) – The (1.45) Happy Valley looks an interesting contest with recent winner King Miles heading the betting having managed to get his head in front following a break sporting first time blinkers for the first time since July 2024. He has drawn a wider stall today in seven and at the prices looks worth taking on.
The selection caught the eye over course and distance two runs back when getting no sort of run from a wide draw in stall eight and finished with plenty left in the tank beaten just a length in fourth in a Class 4 contest. He steps up a grade for today’s race but has the benefit of carrying 18lbs less on his back and his latest second place finish behind Mr Desira produced a similar (106) timefigure to the favourites while carrying that same 18lbs more.
He has been rated higher in the past and won off a two pound lower mark back in March over course and distance. He weighed in at his second highest career weight last time out at 1191lbs and with fifteen pounds less today it would be an even bigger positive to think that he may have need the run last time out following a three month break. He looks worth an interest at the prices on offer to get in the shake up today from a kind draw in stall five.
GLEN AND TONIC (6f Nursery) – This two-year-old tops the timefigure charts for today’s (3.10) Dundalk with her recent third place finish behind impressive 5f winner Rosie Frith round here last month. That was her first race in 114 days and the application of a first time hood looked to have helped her take that step forward in her recording a (101) timefigure.
She looked like she was doing her best work at the finish and she should appreciate the step up in trip to six furlongs as her grand dam Etive was a mile winner as a juvenile in France. Jockey Luke McAteer who rode a treble for the David Marnane stable last Friday will have to find a nice position from stall 16 but a wide draw is not as negative these days as it has been in the past.
MOONDHARRIG (10f 150y Hcap) – The (5.40) Dundalk looks a competitve event with thirteen runners declared for the final race on the card. The Donncha O’Brien trained Candidly has been installed as the 4/1 favourite and as a lightly raced three year old who didn’t get the clearest of runs on her sand debut over course and distance last month one can see why. She has yet to put her head in front in five races and wears blinkers and the form of said race has yet to work out with no winners from six.
The selection is a three-time course and distance winner and has won off a 7lb higher mark back in April by three and a quarter lengths. He hasn’t been firing on all cylinders on the turf this season but showed a bit more last time out over the mile at this venue when staying on from midfield to get up for third place behind Daler. It would be ideal if the form was a bit stronger for today’s contest but that could be said about most of today’s rivals and at the prices he looks worth a sporting interest.
