Yesterday’s Review
0.75pt e/way Wunderschon (107) – A step forward on the clock from the selection who was supported from 15/2 into 9/2. Unfortunately, the two “figure” horses in the betting finished behind the other two prominent rivals in the betting. The selection raced in touch but was outpaced at the business end of the race before staying on and just failing to make the frame by a half length. This was the fastest race on the card and it looks like better will be seen from the selection over even further.
Today’s Advice
BRUMMELL (5f Hcap) – The selection returned from a two month break last time out over 5.5f at Doncaster and performed with credit beaten just 1.5 lengths by the improving Golden Long. He raced prominently on that occasion under Sam James and kept on all the way to the line. The recent addition of cheekpieces has brought about improvement and the form of his latest race has been boosted by wins for Ancient State and Pap Cocktail.
The handicapper has left him alone for today’s (4.18) Beverley and he is currently 3lb below his last winning mark. He finished a half length ahead of Elegant Erin at Hamilton on that occasion over the minimum trip last August, and 5lb apprentice Tom Kiely-Marshall is back on board again today. A former course and distance winner there are plenty of boxes ticked for today’s contest.
2pts win Brummell (11/4 general) 4.18 Beverley
