Yesterday’s Review
1pt e/way Galician Girl (0) – A saddle slip when leaving the gates caused jockey Adam Caffrey to unseat from the selection. No run for our money on this occasion. She did come home in front, but will be deemed a losing bet according to the racing rules…. Nakasero (106) recorded a strong speed figure for the race finishing in front of Finsceal Annie (103) by two and three quarter lengths.
Today’s Advice
Dappled Light (8f Hcap) – The front three in the market for the (5.30) Bath look to have done the most on the clock recently. The current 9/4 favourite My Ambition looks quite short considering that he can race keenly throughout his races, and it looks difficult to save much for the finish with him. Weston Court is another one who likes to get on with it from the front, and has improved nicely in his last two races. The selection has come into form since June running Kalama Sunrise to a nose, who has won his next three races. The selection has won his last race at Ffos Las by three quarters of a length. He does have a little think about things when he comes under pressure, but found again near the finish for his latest victory. I’m hoping that his two main rivals expend a bit too much energy at the front end, and Finley Marsh can pick up the pieces late on.
Skontonovski (8f 40y Hcap) – This seven-year-old bounced back to form seven days ago at Fairyhouse, and trainer Ado McGuinness has entered him for tonight’s (6.50) Killarney. His record at this track reads 5132, and a kind draw in stall seven should see him competitive for tonight’s contest. Cian MacRedmond, who won on him last time out, takes the ride again. Ground conditions of Good (Good To Firm in places) should be fair for most competitors with the track having been watered since yesterday’s action. Dangers include recent Leopardstown winner Hokusai who is drawn wide in stall sixteen, On Our Radar who has dropped to a dangerous looking mark but struggles to get his head in front, and the Blue Panther who might just prefer a bit more cut in the ground.
Bluebells Boy (6f Hcap) – This five-year-old won very impressively for a horse rated so lowly over course and distance last month. The problem was that the going was advertised as Good To Firm with a going stick reading of (7.0), and was riding just over four lengths per mile faster than standard. The ground for tonight’s (8.10) Yarmouth has been given as Good To Soft with a going stick reading of (5.8). The problem is that this going stick reading was taken on Monday morning according to the BHA website… With very little rain around and temperatures due to reach twenty degrees it may be worth taking a chance that conditions may be nearer Good come this evening. If that is the case, and connections are happy to take their chance, he looks a bit overpriced in the market. As a hold up performer he likes a decent pace to aim at, and he looks sure to get that with front runner Dion Baker in the field with hopefully some help from Fletcher’s Flight.
