Yesterday’s Review

0.5pt e/way Justcallmepete (96) – Jockey Joe Leavy reported that the selection never travelled. He was always being pushed along and endured a three wide trip which didn’t help matters, and looks a difficult one to catch right these days. The winner Batal Dubai (104) did well on his first try over seven furlongs in a race where the pace was slower than would be expected for a Class 4 race. Thapa VC (103) made up a lot of ground from the rear, and he has come back in fine form following a 78 day break.

Today’s Advice

Too Much (6f Hcap) – This David Thompson trained five-year-old mare looked unlucky when selected last time out behind Beale Street over course and distance. Jockey Aiden Brookes couldn’t navigate a clear passage from the rear, and had to settle for second place beaten a length and a quarter. The handicapper has left her untouched for that effort for today’s (4.40) Newcastle, and we will be hoping for a clearer run through for the same combination. It looks a winnable Class 5, and the short priced favourite Showtime Mahomes has found it difficult to get his head in front lately. Prominent racers Kats Bob and Howzak should ensure a decent enough pace, and she looks a little overpriced providing she can reproduce her recent form.
