Today’s Advice

Dequinto (6F 16Y Hcap) – This Tony Carroll trained five-year-old has caught the eye the last twice finishing nicely from the rear on both occasions. He started his racing career in the UK from a lowly handicap mark of 46 over this course and distance, following a 463 day break, when fluffing the start and recording the fastest final furlong of 12.04 behind one of today’s rivals May Remain. He wasn’t suited by the slow pace last time out when recording the fastest final three furlongs of the contest behind Hannah’s Return, but still stayed on nicely into third place. He races off the same mark as his debut for tonight’s (8.00) Southwell, and while these types of horses can be difficult to catch right he looks worth a small interest at the prices on offer. It is hoped that a decent pace will be set by the likes of May Remain and Toptime.

Visibility (8F 13Y Hcap) – This seven-year-old has recorded two career best performances on the clock most recently, and looked unlucky not to get his head in front last time out. The handicapper has left him unchanged from a mark of 75 for tonight’s (8.30) Southwell, and he looks worth a sporting interest to record his tenth career win. He has shown great versatilty between seven and eight furlongs during his career with wins at both distances. Jockey Dale Swift takes the ride again, and we will be hoping he can have better luck throughout his run than last time as he had to be switched at a crucial time. He can race keenly throughout his races, and with no out and out front runner in tonight’s field the stakes will have to be kept low.
