Yesterday’s Review
0.5pt e/way Golden Havana (102) – A solid enough performance from the selection who went off as the 40/1 outsider of the field. He raced in touch and kept on all the way to the line but just failed to make the frame by a quarter of a length. He should find an opening when dropped in class.
0.5pt e/way Ventura Express (100) – The return to the all-weather had no affect on the selection who had no response when asked for more over a furlong from home coming home in 9th place beaten 5.25 lengths. He looks a long way from his previous best.
Today’s Advice
CHARLIE BROW’N (14f Hcap) – The selection won the (5.04) Navan last year from a 2lb lower mark and it may pay to allow him his latest effort over a much shorter trip when only managing 10th of 16 beaten 10 lengths over 10f at today’s venue two weeks ago. With the ground described as Yielding (Yielding to Soft in places) conditions should be suitable for the TJ O’Mara trained six-year-old having won on soft ground last year. Adam Browne-Souza takes a handy 7lb off and has already done us a favour at Dundalk this month aboard Send Harry. A decent draw in stall 9 should help and hopefully his pilot can secure a handy enough position.
Favourite Maxwell Smart won nicely at Bellewstown recently by just over 4 lengths from the Sean Davis trained Anightaway. The handicapper hasn’t been too harsh upping the five-year-old just 5lb but the draw in stall 21 today may be difficult enough to overcome.
0.5pt e/way Charlie Brow’n (11/1 William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral 5 places) 5.04 Navan
